The BeyWatch project, a European initiative aiming at developing an energy-aware and user-centric solution, able to provide intelligent energy monitoring/control and power demand balancing at home/building & neighbourhood level, is pleased to announce that Alberto Muñoz Gallego from Telefonica I+D has been invited to present the BeyWatch project to the PARADISO Conference entitled "ICT FOR A GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE FUTURE". The “ICT for a global sustainable future” conference, organised under the aegis of the European Commission with the support of the PARADISO project, was held on January 22-23, 2009 at the European Commission premises in Brussels, Belgium. It is estimated that over 850 persons from around 70 countries followed the event, either from the Charlemagne building where the event took place or online, the event having been broadcasted live on the Internet during the two days. The event reached its objectives: allowing a thorough discussion on the vision proposed by PARADISO and having an important political impact, thanks particularly to the presence in the opening session (picture) of Ms Reding, Mr Pöttering, Dr Touré, Ms da Graca Carvalho, and Mr Rifkin. But beyond the milestone reached, the event has to be mainly seen as a first step since a lot remains to be done to identify and explore the ICT research areas likely to contribute building a true global sustainable future. For more information about the BeyWatch project we recommend to visit the BeyWatch website or to contact us.
